Youth Media Academy

The Community Media Center of Marin (CMCM) is proud of our student educational program, the Youth Media Academy (YMA).

Join CMCM to sign up for the YMA and receive professional-quality production training available to youth in Marin County and throughout the Bay Area. As a YMA member, every student will learn audio & video production, which includes camera operation, studio production, and video editing workshops. This unique program will be filled with fun activities engaging participants in a cohesive and entertaining educational experience. This is a wonderful hands-on opportunity for any student to become completely immersed in digital media production.

These Youth Media Academy courses will offer certifications for the Multi-Field Camera Production workshops. Once these 4 courses are completed, students will be required to attend a live public school event to crew, film, and produce together.

As a YMA member, you are eligible to receive certification by taking our additional general member courses offered at CMCM, including the Basic Studio Production and Final Cut Pro X Editing workshops. We encourage our students to take every class to ensure the full spectrum of our educational program.

PLEASE NOTE the following:
- Students are required to complete the Basic Field Camera Production classes before attending the Media Academy workshops.
- Youth Media Academy youth classes will be attended exclusively by students, unless if adult supervision is required.
- Adults can register and sign up for all the other courses on an individual basis.
- High School students (teenagers) are eligible for enrollment.
