Seriously Now

Seriously Now In Depth this week takes a look at youth and family courts. First, an interview with Don Carney, the director of Marin Youth Court which brings an innovative approach to Marin’s teenagers. The youth play DA, defense lawyer, and juror and the sentences are binding. The sentences focus on restorative justice and not on punishment. Kelly O’Mara, a host for Seriously Now, conducts the interview.

In the next segment, the filmmaker Garland Waller takes a look at an all-too-prevalent miscarriage of justice when children are placed, unsupervised with abusive parents.
